Sporting goods manufacturers and underwear manufacturers have come out with products made of fibers which can keep the body warm.

Underwear made of fiber containing ground minerals collected from volcanoes under the Sea of Japan, is being promoted by Triumph International Ltd of Japan.

The company explained that the fiber is based on rayon having three types of mineral powders, giving out infrared rays which increase blood circulation.

Triumph is targeting sales of 130,000 items consisting of a series of five items including camisoles and tank tops during the autumn and winter season.

Kaiteki Navi underwear of Wacoal Corp consists of a fiber containing a special polymer which gives out heat when the ambient temperature is low.

Sales of 700,000 unit are being targeted by the company by February.

When the temperature drops below 25 degrees the polymer becomes solid and gives heat but when temperature rises above 25 degrees it turns to liquid, or gel, and absorbs heat.

Textile maker Omikenshi Co developed the fiber based on rayon and cotton.

Breath Thermo underwear having absorbent fiber that generates heat manufactured by Mizuno Corp. is being promoted into department stores.

An exothermal material in the fiber's molecule and hydrogen in water vapor of the human body undergoes a chemical reaction, giving off heat.

Target of 1.4 million items has been set up this season by the company, which is 17 percent up than last year.
